Raised in West Oak Lane, Joseph graduated from Olney High School and was the city’s 1965 pole vaulting champion. Dr. Williams is a graduate of Temple University School of Pharmacy and The University of Connecticut Medical School. He followed his zest for surgery at Yale University where he became Chief Resident in Surgery in the field of urology. He served in active duty as the US Navy Naval Commander and Director of the Urological Department at the Naval Regional Medical Center in Philadelphia. He served as a reservist for six years and retired from duty to devote full time to building his practice. Dr. Williams became a staple in the Philadelphia community as he served the population. He has conducted numerous presentations as keynote speaker in churches and organizations as he fought to bring education to black men concerning prostate cancer. His community service awards are many and include most recently the NAACP Veterans Lifetime Achievement Award. He also served as medical director of Spectrum Health Services in Philadelphia on two occasions. Keeping his people aware of prevention, risks and treatment of urological diseases has been his sincere lifetime focus. Dr. Williams operated a solo practice with distinction for 34 years. He has been affiliated with Graduate Hospital, Mercy Catholic Medical Center and Albert Einstein Hospital during his career. He is a member of Second Baptist Church of Moorestown, New Jersey and of Sigma Pi Phi Fraternity, Delta Epsilon Boule where he is a Minton Fellow. He has served a variety of leadership positions with Sigma Pi Phi including Foundation Chairperson and Sire Archon.
