Social Action

Through its foundation, Delta Epsilon Foundation, Inc, the Delta Epsilon Boule provides mentoring and skill building to teenage males. The Delta Epsilon Male Outreach ("D.E.M.O.") Program seeks to encourage young men to attend college and pursue professional degrees. This is achieved through a series of workshops, enrichment activities, social events, college visits and individual mentoring. The D.E.M.O. Program has hosted a number of activities for the youth, including:

                                    Shark Tank

Delta Epsilon has partnered with the Rutgers University School of Business for its inaugural Rutgers University Student Executive (RUSE) program and Shark Tank simulation. The RUSE program seeks to introduce high-achieving underrepresented high school students (grades 10-12) to business and entrepreneurship as a potential career path. For eight weeks, the students come to the business school to attend sessions on the various core business areas (e.g., finance, accounting, management, marketing, etc.). Throughout the 8-week program, the RUSE participants are matched with mentors to work with them on their individual understanding of business concepts. The program concludes with a Shark Tank competition where members of Delta Epsilon, business school professors and other executives will evaluate the students’ business proposals. The students with the best business pitches receive prize money from Delta Epsilon to fund their business ventures.

                          Career Luncheons

The social action committee hosts lunch meetings with D.E.M.O. program participants to get a progress report on their school matriculation and offer advice to the young men. These are informal gatherings and hosted at local restaurants in South Jersey and Philadelphia.

                                Golf Clinics

The D.E.M.O. participants are invited to join Delta Epsilon archons at our annual golf outing for basic instruction and practice swings.

                                                                             Fine and Performing Arts

Delta Epsilon has a well-established partnership with Creative Arts Morgan Village Academy, a high school for the fine and performing arts in Camden, New Jersey. The students at the school have performed in the Delta Epsilon Black History Month programs and attended various other social action functions. Delta Epsilon bestowed book awards upon Creative Arts students and has made generous donations to the music program at the school.

Enrichment Events

Delta Epsilon sponsors social and cultural events for the youth. In the past, Delta Epsilon has rented a movie theater for private movie screenings of films showcasing African American stories, bowling excursions, college visits and individual mentoring outings. Archons also support the young people in our program by attending their sporting events, cotillions, and Jack and Jill functions, among others. The youth have also been invited to participate in the Delta Epsilon Black History Month programs.
