Bio
Chuck was born and raised in Mecklenburg County Virginia right outside the town of South Hill, Virginia near the Virginia / North Carolina border. He is a graduate of Hampton University and Rutgers University School of Law in Camden. Chuck is currently a Superior Court Judge sitting in Camden. Before becoming a Judge, Chuck, with Arcon Harold George, was a partner in the Law Firm of Sumners Council George and Dortch with offices in Camden and Trenton. At one point the Firm was the largest African American law firm in New Jersey and a three time recipient of various Business of the Year Awards. Chuck is also former recipient of the Garden State Bar Association Lawyer Award for Excellence, the Rutgers Black Law Students Champion for Social Justice and Equality Award and the Justice Thurgood Marshall Award from the N.J. State Bar Association Diversity Committee. Chuck is currently the Co-chair of the Statewide Committee on Juvenile Justice Systems Improvement and the Chair of the Camden County Youth Services Commission. He is also on Governor Murphy’s Statewide Task Force on the Continued Transformation of Youth Justice in New Jersey. Chuck often speaks at schools, churches and other organizations regarding issues facing youth. He is the Court’s National representative on such issues and a mentor to several students and young professionals. Chuck has been married to his wife Doris for 34 years. They have two children, daughter Willesca, son Zachary and a grandson Brayden.
